I recently had the pleasure of conducting an email interview with 2016 NFL draft prospect Larry Butler III, linebacker. Butler is currently playing at Southern Nazarene University, a division 2 school. There are many kids out there with big dreams of playing in the NFL, however many of them lack the same ambition, dedication, and talent possessed by Larry Butler III. Standing at 6″1′ and weighing in at 242 at the start of the 2014 season, he is built well for the linebacker position. One can see from his interview responses that Butler eats, sleeps, and lives for the love of the game, aside from our personal interactions, I can also clearly see this on social media. Through our interactions, I have seen a man with a quiet confidence, tremendous skill, and the dedication to pursuing an NFL career. When watching Butler’s highlights I thought he looked like a young London Fletcher, you can see the same speed and versatility. There is no doubt in my mind we will be talking about him in fifteen years as a future Hall of Fame player.

As I said, you can see the passion for the game in this young man. Butler mentions Terrell Owens as an inspiration, and I could not agree more. In my personal past with football I remember watching Terrell Owens play for San Francisco and the fun and love for the sport you could see in his eyes every time he stepped onto the field, I still have my 2004 Terrell Owens Eagles jersey, a favorite in my collection. Larry Butler III has this same drive and motivation for the game. Butler may play on the other side of the ball, but offense or defense, passionate players are what make football America’s favorite sport. In closing, I leave you with this Terrell Owens quote:
If you align expectations with reality, you will never be disappointed.
